Showing love and affection. I just love her snatching her hand away from Frank Churchill showing us that there is no love there for him. However, Emma who does not know what love is cannot see that. She cannot read herself.

The easy intimacy between her and Mr Knightley shows us in retrospect what we realise at the conclusion. Emma was always in love with Knightley. Emma isn’t about falling in love. Its about realising you are and what form that love takes.
